Snow fell in parts of Northern Spain yesterday, Friday, after months of drought, lack of rainfall, and rising temperatures that made the weather feel more like summer than spring. This unusual snowfall occurred in the mountainous area of La Raya in Asturias, while heavy rain fell across areas of Spain's Mediterranean coast, including Catalonia and Valencia, following months of below-average precipitation. Since the beginning of this year, Spain has recorded 11 days with higher than usual temperatures, which is more than double the average for an entire year.
