The phone call made by American mediator Amos Hookstein to President Michel Aoun to inform him about the results of the recent rounds of communications with the Israeli side showed a resolution in the demarcation issue, after recent days were filled with Israeli positions that complicated the matter. According to a statement from the media office at the Presidency, Hookstein clarified that the rounds of discussion have concluded and that the remarks he will send in the next few hours will include the final draft of the proposal regarding the demarcation of the southern maritime borders. This development has put matters back on the track they were on before the confusion caused by Israeli positions, allowing the possibility of signing the agreement to advance alongside the logistical measures that the Israeli side has begun in the Karish field through a reverse experimental pumping process to ensure the safety of the pumps that will be used to extract gas from this field in the coming weeks, as Israel revealed.
