An old building collapsed this morning, Thursday, on Ismail Sabri Street in the Al-Jumruk district of Alexandria. One body has been retrieved from under the rubble, and efforts are underway to search for others.
The police department received a notification about a two-story building collapsing on Ibn Afifi Street, a branch of Ismail Sabri Street in the Al-Jumruk area. Security forces, along with ambulances, immediately rushed to the site.
Upon investigation, it was found that the building was old and comprised two floors. One victim was retrieved, and another was injured, while search operations continue under the debris for any additional victims.
Recently, the Al-Jumruk area also witnessed the collapse of a historic printing press registered in the list of Alexandrian heritage due to the collapse of building number 90 on Najat Alley in Al-Farahda. Removal forces and local authorities went to the reported site, discovering that the collapse occurred in a printing press registered with the Heritage Committee, which had previously received a renovation order from the local authority.
