Former Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will face corruption charges tomorrow, Friday. Muhyiddin, who served as Prime Minister for 17 months in 2020 and 2021, arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters this morning, Thursday, for questioning.
The chairman of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Azam Baki, indicated that the commission would issue a statement later today. Muhyiddin has previously denied these charges, describing them as political revenge.
Muhyiddin and his party have been under investigation for corruption since losing a closely contested election in November to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar had ordered a review last year of government projects worth billions of dollars approved by Muhyiddin, citing a lack of proper procedures.
