Italian Sabato De Sarno has been appointed as the creative director at Gucci, as announced by parent group Kering. De Sarno, who oversaw men's and women's collections at Valentino, will present his first collection for Gucci at the women's fashion week in Milan in September. De Sarno stated, "I am proud to join a house with an extraordinary history and heritage, which has over the years embraced and cherished the values I believe in."
De Sarno, 39, began his career at Prada in 2005 before moving to Dolce & Gabbana, and then joined Valentino in 2009, where he held several positions before being appointed as director of the men's and women's fashion collections, working closely with chief designer Pierpaolo Piccioli. In a statement issued by Kering, De Sarno expressed, "I am proud to join a house with such exceptional history and heritage, which has over the years embraced and cherished the values I believe in… I am inspired and excited to bring my creative vision to this brand." De Sarno's first Gucci collection is set to be unveiled during Milan's women's fashion week in September.
