Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law banning gender change, except for medical reasons. According to the law, which takes effect today, Monday, "a person who has changed their gender will not be able to adopt children, and if one spouse changes their gender, the marriage will be annulled." The new law will not apply to individuals who have previously changed their gender.
