Secrecy Imposed on Investigation Files Regarding the Collapse of Credit Suisse

The newspaper "Aargauer Zeitung" reported that "secrecy will be enforced on the parliamentary investigation files related to the collapse of Credit Suisse for 50 years," raising concerns among Swiss historians. The newspaper stated, "The investigation committee will hand over its files, which include witness statements and documents, to the Swiss federal archive after a period significantly longer than the usual 30 years." The Swiss Historical Society expressed concern about the length of this period, with its president sending a letter to the committee chair stating, "If researchers want to conduct scientific investigations into the banking crisis of 2023, access to the Credit Suisse files will be indispensable."
