The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that at least ten Syrian soldiers were killed and others injured in nighttime clashes with the Islamic State (ISIS) in Raqqa province in the north of the country. The observatory, which monitors the conflict in Syria, stated that ISIS fighters attacked army checkpoints around the village of Ma’dan Atiq, which they briefly seized before withdrawing by morning. It added that at least six Syrian soldiers were also injured. Syrian state media did not report on the clashes, and ISIS did not claim responsibility for the attack through its propaganda channels on Telegram.
