The head of the "Kataeb" party, Deputy Sami Jamail, asserted after receiving the Saudi ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari, at the Kataeb's central headquarters in Sassine, that "if the circumstances allow securing a majority for a candidate from Hezbollah in Lebanon, then any attempt to reach a quorum for the session is tantamount to his election." He called for "not hiding behind constitutional arguments and adherence to the constitution to involve us in six more years of dominance, poverty, and humiliation." He emphasized that "we will not accept Hezbollah imposing its will on us and drowning Lebanon in more crises, dominance, and control," affirming their "rejection of the election of any candidate linked to Hezbollah. The issue is not about replacing Marada Movement leader Sleiman Frangieh with another; it concerns a political choice, not a personality."
Jamail warned that if "the proposal is to pressure the deputies through session disruptions until they impose their candidate, this gives us the right to resort to the same methods to prevent the country from falling under full control," confirming their stance against "any settlement that may come at the expense of our country's sovereignty from any source, using all available means."
