Sweden Accuses Man of Financing the Banned PKK

Swedish prosecutors on Friday filed charges against a suspect for committing crimes related to gunfire and collecting funds for the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has been armed against the Turkish state since 1984. They stated, "This case is the first where official charges have been brought against anyone in Sweden for attempting to finance the PKK." The Swedish prosecution authorities indicated in a statement that they had charged a man in his forties with suspected extortion, serious offenses involving a firearm, and attempted terrorism financing.
