The spokesperson for the US State Department, Matthew Miller, indicated on Tuesday that "the hostage deal with Hamas is getting close but not finalized," adding that "the delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinians is not contingent upon the hostage deal." Miller told reporters, "It has been clear for some time that the release of the hostages would open up the possibility of delivering more humanitarian aid."
