U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stated today, Thursday, that "the U.S. military does not place conditions on its security assistance to Israel," adding that "Washington expects the professional Israeli army to do the right thing." Austin also mentioned during his remarks at NATO headquarters in Brussels that "the United States has not seen any indication that the Lebanese group Hezbollah is mobilizing forces in anticipation of attacking Israel, which could lead to an escalation of the conflict." He said, "We have not seen any troop mobilization along the border... This is something that the Israelis are focused on. We are also looking for additional signs that could expand the conflict here, and we hope not to see those signs." The United States has quickly sent air defenses and ammunition to Israel to assist it in its fight against the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), following its devastating attack on Israel at the beginning of the week.
