Syrian Ambassador to Cairo, Hossam al-Din Ala, submitted his credentials to the Secretary-General of the Arab League as the representative of Syria on Sunday. This appointment comes nearly a month after the Arab League's decision to resume the participation of Syrian delegations in its meetings, marking the first time in nearly 11 years since Syria's membership was suspended, according to the newspaper "Okaz." Ambassador Ala served as Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva for eight years, as well as the accredited ambassador of Syria to the Vatican. He has also served as an ambassador in Spain and worked at Syria's mission to the United Nations in New York from 1996 to 2001.
