On Saturday, Palestinian writer and poet Hiba Kamel Abu Nadi passed away due to the ongoing Israeli bombardment in the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian Ministry of Culture mourned the late writer in a statement on its Facebook account, noting that she wrote stories, novels, and poetry. Born in Saudi Arabia in 1991, she came from a refugee family from Beit Jirja, displaced in 1948. The late writer studied biochemistry and educational rehabilitation, worked in education, and received several awards, most notably first place in short stories in Palestine and second place in the Arab world at the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity for her novel "Oxygen Is Not for the Dead."
