Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed in an interview broadcast on Saturday that he would "fight to the death" with his close circle if the Russians managed to storm his office in Kyiv at the beginning of the war. He stated, "I know how to shoot. Can you imagine a news headline like (Russians capture the President of Ukraine)? That would be a disgrace."
Zelensky added, "I believe that if they had managed to enter the administration, we would not be here," noting that "no one could have been captured because we had a defense ready at Bankova Street. We would have remained there until the end."
When asked whether he carries a gun and has trained to use it, he confirmed that he has. However, he rejected suggestions that he might use it to kill himself instead of being captured, stating, "No, no, no, not to shoot myself, definitely to respond."
