A spokesperson for the ruling Justice and Development Party led by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced today, Monday, that the Turkish president will soon visit the Russian resort of Sochi on the Black Sea. The visit may bring developments concerning the agreement that allowed the maritime export of Ukrainian grain. The grain deal, brokered by the United Nations and Turkey, ended after Moscow's withdrawal last month. Ankara is trying to convince Russia to return to the agreement, under which the three ports of Odessa shipped grain shipments amounting to tens of millions of tons during the Russian invasion. The party spokesperson, Omar Celik, did not specify whether Erdogan would meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but the Kremlin stated on Friday that there is an understanding for a face-to-face meeting to take place soon.
