Twitter vs. Threads: Meta Officially Launches Competition in More Than 100 Countries

Meta's CEO Mark Zuckerberg is preemptively stepping into the ring against his counterpart Elon Musk by launching the "Threads" platform to compete with Twitter in the virtual competition arena.

Before the boxing ring confrontation and following a brief field trial a couple of days ago, Meta officially launched the Twitter rival "Threads" today, Thursday. The Threads app aims to attract users away from Musk's platform, which has begun implementing policies that limit Twitter's usability. Zuckerberg seems to be targeting users seeking an alternative social media platform, describing "Threads" as a text-based version of Meta's photo-sharing app Instagram, which the company claims offers "a new and separate space for real-time updates and public conversations." Observers believe Musk's policies have put the famous platform in turmoil by showcasing longer posts and fewer supporters, especially among celebrities. As of midnight Wednesday-Thursday, the app was made available live in the UK on Apple and Google Android app stores and in over 100 countries, including the United States, Britain, Australia, Canada, and Japan.
