Floods Sweep Away Dozens of Cars in Sochi, Russia

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations announced that floods caused by heavy rains swept away dozens of cars in the coastal city of Sochi in the southwest of the country. The ministry stated in a report that "there were no injuries among civilians, but the water flooded two houses in the Khiparisovoy and Shuseni neighborhoods." It noted that "in both cases, there was no need to evacuate residents at this time," indicating that "its crews are working to pump water out of the two houses." Meteorological experts warned that the rainstorm in Sochi will continue until July 10, with the possibility of heavy rainfall and strong winds, along with hail showers, which will lead to rising river levels and the formation of tornadoes over the sea in the Magri-Veseloy area. Videos shared by local residents showed dozens of cars piled together, swept away by the floods.
