No Food Crisis: What About Prices?

The head of the Food Importers Syndicate, Hani Bihsali, reassured that "currently there is no issue regarding the supply of food products, whether in terms of the arrival of goods or the existing stock in Lebanon." At the same time, he emphasized that "food prices will not be affected by the events in Gaza, as they have maintained their stability." Bihsali confirmed that "things are going well and there is no need to take any action," noting that "despite the instability and pressure also affecting the scene in Lebanon, operations at the Port of Beirut and Rafik Hariri International Airport are normal." Bihsali pointed out that "there are many goods in the markets and in warehouses, of all kinds, sufficient for at least three months." He concluded by saying, "There is no need to rush to buy and stockpile food products, because supplies are available," hoping that "things do not escalate into war or major security shocks that would have negative repercussions on the airport and port, as that would be a different conversation."
