The "Kfarhazir Environmental Committee" warned against "granting unstudied random construction permits within this green paradise, along with subdivision projects and residential complexes, and converting lands into industrial areas, paving the way for the destruction of this green area through subdivision projects and housing plans, as well as unstudied random construction permits, after most of the western coastal landscape of Koura has been destroyed by sand quarries and fraudulent rehabilitation projects aimed at material interests and excavation and transport contracts that are no longer hidden from anyone."
In a statement, they announced that "the remaining green area in the Koura plain is the healthy security valve for the residents of Koura and the reserve oxygen tank for them, containing thousands of ancient olive trees, a rare pine forest, and distinctive biodiversity. It is the spearhead of the environmental shield that contributes to protecting the remaining residents of Koura from the horrific environmental pollution risks spread by sand companies."
