Jumblatt: A Ground Attack on Gaza Could Backfire on Lebanon's Interior

Former leader of the Progressive Socialist Party Walid Jumblatt confirmed that "Gaza is as old as history itself, and wars fought over it are countless. A team of fighters from Gaza in the Hamas movement rose up and successfully carried out the operation on October 7, reminding me of 1973 when Arab armies shattered the myth of the invincible Israeli army." After a meeting of the General Assembly of the Druze Religious Council, Jumblatt said, "Did anyone provide financial assistance to Hamas from Arab countries?" He indicated that "we must expect that if a ground attack on Gaza begins, it could backfire on Lebanon's interior, which is why communication with Hezbollah is crucial to avoid being drawn into war. The situation in the south is 'ongoing,' but we urge not to expand its scope."
