Japanese Nikkei Index Closes Higher

The Japanese Nikkei index closed higher on Monday, as investors navigated cautiously after last week’s heavy losses, overcoming disappointment from the slight reduction in interest rates in China. The Nikkei ended trading up 0.37% at 31,565.64 points, ending a three-day losing streak. The index fell 3.15% last week, marking its worst weekly performance this year. However, it has risen by about 21% this year, becoming the best performer in Asia. The broader Topix index also rose by 0.17% to 2,241.10 points.
