Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed the current military escalation in Gaza and its surroundings during a phone call with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. The Crown Prince emphasized that the Kingdom is making every possible effort to communicate with all international and regional parties to stop the ongoing escalation, stressing Saudi Arabia's position against targeting civilians in any form and the loss of innocent lives, as well as the necessity of adhering to the principles of international humanitarian law.
This is the first communication between the two leaders since the agreement between Tehran and Riyadh to resume relations, mediated by China.
The Saudi Press Agency also announced on Wednesday that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reiterated during a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that the Kingdom is "making diligent efforts in regional and international communication aimed at joint coordination to halt the ongoing escalation" in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The statement further noted that the Crown Prince affirmed "the necessity of stopping the attack on the Gaza Strip." It also mentioned his reference to "the Kingdom's steadfast position in support of the Palestinian cause and the efforts aimed at achieving comprehensive and just peace that guarantees the Palestinian people their rights."
