Title: UNIFIL Commander in Lebanon Urges Coordination and Calm

The Head of the "UNIFIL" mission and its Force Commander, Major General Arnaldo Lazaro, urged the parties to continue coordinating activities near the Blue Line with UNIFIL in advance and to avoid actions that could escalate the situation and increase tensions during a tripartite meeting in Ras Naqoura in southern Lebanon. He noted that some activities, such as aiming weapons, firing live ammunition, directing laser lights, and throwing stones, have continued despite repeated calls for action against them. He added, "Every incident can lead to serious escalation. Both sides bear responsibility for taking preventive measures to avoid violations of the ceasefire." He encouraged the parties to utilize UNIFIL's resources when necessary to help avoid tensions similar to those that recently occurred.
