Landmark Group Announces the Death of Its Founder Mickey Ghattasani

The Landmark Group announced today, Friday, the death of prominent Dubai-based businessman Mickey Ghattasani, who founded the massive retail group. The company stated in an email: "The Landmark Group today announces that its founder and esteemed chairman Mukesh (Mickey) Ghattasani has peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family." Ghattasani, of Indian origin, started his business in 1973 with a single store in Bahrain and grew the group across the Middle East, Africa, and India. The group, headquartered in Dubai, manages brands including "Baby Shop," "Centerpoint," "Home Centre," "Lifestyle," "Splash," and "Shoe Mart and Emax." Emirati businessman Majid Saif Al Ghurair tweeted, "Today, Dubai lost a prominent player in the retail and real estate sectors. Mickey Ghattasani, founder of the Landmark Group, has passed away." Local media reported he died at the age of 70.
