Local police and emergency services reported to Reuters that three workers are trapped in a potash mine in the town of Suria in northeastern Spain following an underground collapse on Thursday. Firefighters stated that the collapse occurred at 8:53 AM local time, approximately 900 meters underground, without providing further details. The potash mine is located in Catalonia, about 80 kilometers north of Barcelona. Potash is used in agriculture as fertilizer and as a raw material in industries such as pharmaceuticals, explosives, as well as in the glass and chemical industries. The company IBERPOTAS, which operates the mine, has not yet commented on the incident. The company is owned by the ICL Group, based in Tel Aviv.
