When Will Dutch Elections Be Held?

The Dutch news agency (ANP) reported, citing the National Election Committee of the Netherlands, that "the new general elections that the country is waiting for after the government resignation will not be held before mid-November." The coalition government led by Prime Minister Mark Rutte collapsed yesterday after failing to reach an agreement on imposing restrictions to limit the influx of migrants. He stated, "It is no secret that the views of coalition partners on immigration policy differ. Today, we must sadly conclude that these disagreements have become intractable. Therefore, I will submit the complete resignation of the government to the king." Rutte's government will manage the country as a caretaker government until a new government is formed after the elections, which may take several months.
