Title: "Hamas Disburses Delayed Salaries in Gaza"

Title:

The Hamas-run Ministry of Finance in the Gaza Strip announced on Wednesday that the movement has begun paying June salaries to approximately 50,000 public sector employees after a delay of about three weeks. The ministry stated that the crisis was due to delays in receiving a monthly wage grant from Qatar, which is a vital aid for the impoverished sector, as well as a decline in tax revenues and rising expenditures. Most of Gaza's 2.3 million residents live in poverty, and the economy relies on foreign aid. Qatar has provided hundreds of millions of dollars since 2014 for construction projects. Currently, it allocates grants worth $30 million per month to families, supplies fuel for electricity, and helps pay public sector salaries. The monthly wage cost is 125 million shekels (approximately $34.5 million).
