Former England goalkeeper Ben Foster has announced that he has "retired again today, Monday, just two months after extending his contract for one year with Wrexham, a club in the English Fourth Division." Foster stated in a statement: "The honest truth is that my performance this season has not reached the level I want, and I feel that now is the right time to retire." He added that he made his decision now to help Wrexham evaluate their options before the transfer window closed. Foster emphasized that "Wrexham will always hold a special place in my heart." He played a key role in helping the Welsh team return to the fourth division, participating in 12 matches during his time with the club, which is owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Foster came out of retirement to sign a short-term contract with Wrexham in March, before saving a last-minute penalty against Notts County the following month, giving the team a boost in their push for promotion from the fifth division.
