Everton Football Club, competing in the English Premier League, announced on Tuesday that its chairman, Bill Kenwright, has passed away at the age of 78. Kenwright, who was Everton’s longest-serving chairman in over a century, took over from Philip Carter in 2004. Everton stated, "Kenwright passed away peacefully last night, surrounded by his family and loved ones." During his 19 seasons as chairman, Everton secured a place in the top eight of the standings 12 times, including a fourth-place finish in 2005. The team also reached the FA Cup final in 2009 and qualified for European competitions on six occasions.
