MP Gibran Bassil, in a speech delivered from the youth camp for school students in Batroun, called for "not to continue with the same policies of Riad Salameh." Regarding the file of Syrian refugees, he said: "We lived under the slogan of freedom, sovereignty, and independence. And today we want to live it because the battle of Syrian displacement is existential and foundational, and with displacement, Lebanon will no longer exist."
He added: "We will exercise our sovereignty over our land; our land is ours and not for any other foreign entity. We say this with love, not in a revengeful tone. To all those who wish to impose displacement upon us, whether a state, the European Union, or the Commission, this is a battle for the independence and freedom of our people and municipalities, and we insist that they take all measures that contribute to the return of the displaced to their land."
