Aeroflot, Russia's largest airline, announced today, Tuesday, that it "has sent one of its Airbus aircraft to Iran for repairs, after Western sanctions hindered the company's ability to maintain its planes." The company stated in a press release that "a service provider will carry out maintenance on an Airbus A330 (in Iran) that includes several repairs." It affirmed that it "has all the necessary material resources, certifications, and extensive expertise, but one service provider will conduct maintenance of high quality."
Flight tracking system FlightRadar24 noted that "an Airbus A330-300 flew to Tehran on April 5 of this month and remains there to this day." Russian airlines continue to operate Western planes but are struggling to import spare parts.
