Tunisian police released interim Ennahda movement president Monther Awonisi in a surprising move on Tuesday. Tunisian lawyer Samir Dilou reported that the public prosecutor's office decided to release former Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali after questioning him regarding appointments and recruitments during his time in office. Jebali had been detained by a specialized security unit in Al-Aouina after a raid on his brother-in-law's house in the Qantawi area of Sousse around 8 AM. Additionally, officials from the opposition Ennahda party announced that the police arrested prominent party leader Abdul Karim Al-Harouni two days after placing him under house arrest; he is currently heading the party's Shura Council, which is the highest authority within the party.
