Lebanon Electricity Insists on Fair Power Distribution Across Regions

Lebanon's Electricity Company affirmed its commitment to supplying and distributing electricity equally across all Lebanese regions, in alignment with guidance from the Ministry of Energy and Water.

The company explained that any power outages or reductions affecting various Lebanese areas are primarily due to the limited available production capacity. As all regions experience reduced output across the grid (below 450 megawatts), the electricity supply remains unstable, leading to general blackouts lasting several hours before production units are reconnected. No region is given additional or preferential electricity, except for the Litani area, which operates under special arrangements, and except for lines serving essential facilities and government buildings in Lebanon (such as the airport, port, courthouses, central prisons, water pumps, etc.). These lines cannot be separated from nearby residential areas for purely technical reasons.

The corporation clarified recent concerns about Tripoli, stating that the city receives electricity from three main sources: the Deir Ammar main transfer station, the Bahsas main transfer station, and the North Lebanon Electricity Company's (Kadisha) primary stations. Tripoli receives its share of electricity alongside other Lebanese areas, considering the total available production capacity and the network's status.

Furthermore, the company assured that its main transfer stations have M3 meters at their outlets and Kadisha stations have meters on their 66 kV outlets, enabling objective tracking of supply quantities and durations.

Lebanon’s Electricity Company asserts its dedication to transparency and fairness in distributing electricity across all Lebanese regions. Any complaints or observations concerning the distribution or duration of electricity supply in any area can be formally submitted to the company. They will investigate and verify the issue, including retrieving and analyzing M3 meter data and other related information, to confirm the actual electricity supply status.
