A U.S. military official revealed to Reuters that approximately seven mortar shells fell into the U.S. embassy compound in Baghdad during an attack that occurred early Friday morning, indicating that the assault was much larger than initially believed. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, left open the possibility of more projectiles being launched at the embassy compound, but without them landing inside.
