Manchester United announced on Tuesday the transfer of defender Eric Bailly to the Turkish club Besiktas. The Ivorian defender spent last season on loan at Olympique Marseille, where he played 17 matches and helped his team secure a third-place finish. The 29-year-old has made over 100 appearances for United since joining from Villarreal in 2016, but his game time has decreased in recent years due to injuries. Bailly, who has 49 international caps, was part of the United squad that won the Europa League in the 2016-2017 season. Besiktas, who finished third last season, currently sits fourth in the league after the first three rounds this season.
