Stone Throwing and Gunfire in Khalda for the Third Consecutive Day

Stone Throwing and Gunfire in Khalda for the Third Consecutive Day

For the third consecutive day, the families of the detainees from Arab Khalda cut off the coastal highway following the issuance of sentences against 36 defendants in the events that took place in August 2021. The army arrived at the location and worked to open the road, but it was met with stone throwing, resulting in injuries to some soldiers, prompting the army to fire in the air to disperse the crowd. In this context, the "Future Movement" affirmed its support for the Arab tribes in Khalda, rejecting the "unjust sentences" issued by the military court, and emphasizing: "We will pursue this case with the Dar al-Fatwa and the concerned parties to achieve justice for the members of the Arab tribes by all possible means, primarily appealing to the Court of Cassation." It is noted that the sentences ranged from death and hard labor to 10 years and a year and a half.
