Yuri Sobolevsky, the deputy head of the Kherson region administration, announced today that Ukrainian forces stationed on the western side of the Dnipro River are frequently conducting raids on the eastern bank near Kherson in an effort to dislodge Russian troops. Sobolevsky noted that "Our army visits the eastern bank often to carry out raids, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are working very effectively," adding that "the results will come and will be similar to what happened on the right bank of the Kherson region when the Ukrainian forces, through a complex and lengthy operation, were able to liberate our territories with minimal losses for our army." He emphasized that the military operation requires "media silence."
Military analysts believe that Ukraine is likely to soon launch a counteroffensive, with one of the main objectives being to breach a land corridor to the south between Russia and the annexed Crimean Peninsula. Regaining the Kherson region would be an important step toward achieving this goal. Russian forces have controlled the eastern bank of the Dnipro River near Kherson since their withdrawal from the southern city in November after occupying it for several months.
