Fake Putin Address Broadcast by Russian Stations

Russian news agencies reported that the Kremlin stated, "A fake radio address broadcast by Russian stations in areas bordering Ukraine today, Monday, was presented as being from President Vladimir Putin following a hacking incident." Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov was quoted saying, "All these messages are completely false."

Independent Russian media reported that the address informed residents of the Rostov, Belgorod, and Voronezh regions—all bordering Ukraine—that Kyiv's forces had crossed into Russia.

It added that the fake address contained false information, announcing a state of emergency in border areas and the commencement of military mobilization across Russia for war with Ukraine, urging residents to evacuate larger areas along the Russian border.

Authorities in the Voronezh region confirmed that a cyber breach had occurred.

Kyiv denies sending any troops into Russian territory and claims that "the sporadic ground incursions that took place in the past three months, which Moscow blamed on Ukraine, came from Russian sides supportive of Kyiv."
