Former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Ambassador David Hale expressed concern about the current situation, noting, "I understand the anxiety that everyone feels, especially in Lebanon." In an interview with "mtv," he stated, "The mere thought that Iran prioritizes whom to protect and whom to abandon sums it all up." Regarding the entry into the Gaza war, Hale wished for "Lebanon to stay away from a war that it has no involvement in merely to protect Iran's interests for Hezbollah." He added, "I believe that the Lebanese will do everything they can to protect their country from this conflict, especially since entering this war will not help anyone." He concluded by saying, "I do not see any Arab country willing to welcome Palestinians from Gaza."
