What is the Magical 20/20 Rule for Weight Loss?

Nutritionist and spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association (BDA), Nicola Ludlam-Raine, pointed out that "if you feel uncomfortable shortly after eating, or suffer from bloating or excessive gas, you may need to slow down your eating pace, and the magical number for that is 20." In an interview with the British newspaper "Telegraph," Ludlam-Raine said, "For those who have undergone weight loss surgery, we use the 20 rule with them: take a piece of food the size of a 20 pence coin, about 30 grams, chew it 20 times, take a 20-second break, and take 20 minutes to eat the entire meal." She added, "Even if you haven't had weight loss surgery, you should still spend 20 minutes eating your meal with proper chewing."
