Videos that spread on social media have terrified the people of Libya, particularly in Derna, due to talk of jinn, spirits, and ghouls moving around the disaster-stricken city. At night, lights appeared alongside frightening sounds and fires during the early days of the flood. Upon investigating these videos, the officers of the 166th brigade of the army noticed “dolls in white clothes” suspiciously hanging among the rubble. Investigations by the army regarding these garments led to the identification of two individuals behind these dolls, according to the spokesperson of the media office of the 166th brigade, Aqila Al-Sabir. The two suspects admitted during their interrogation to creating the dolls, setting fires in front of them among the debris of the houses, fabricating sounds, and filming it as if it were "ghouls" to spread rumors among the residents.
