Parliamentarians Accompanying the Army at Lebanon's Northern Border

A parliamentary delegation visited the northern border areas today, Tuesday, accompanied by officers from the Lebanese Army Command and the First Border Regiment. The delegation was headed by Fadi Alama, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Committee in the House of Representatives, and included MPs Hagop Pakradounian, Adnan Traboulsi, Pierre Bou Assi, Adeeb Abd El-Masih, and Jimmy Jabbour. The members of the delegation assessed the situation regarding illegal infiltration by Syrian refugees into Lebanese territory, the measures taken by army units to curb it, and the essential needs to enhance these measures. The MPs noted that the army faces significant challenges in securing the northern border, which is approximately 110 km long, due to the geographical nature of the area and a shortage of manpower and equipment, emphasizing the importance of developing its capabilities to ensure it can continue fulfilling its national duty.
