Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko suggested today, Friday, a ceasefire in Ukraine and declared a truce without changing the positions of the troops, with no transfer of military equipment from either side. In an annual speech before lawmakers and government officials, he stated, "We must stop now, before escalation begins. I take the risk and call for a halt to hostilities. It is our duty to resolve all geographic issues, reconstruction, security, and other matters at the negotiating table without preconditions."
Lukashenko pointed out that "it is impossible to defeat a nuclear power. If the Russian leadership realizes that the situation threatens to dismantle Russia, they will use the most terrifying weapons, and this cannot be allowed." He noted that the tactical nuclear weapons planned to be deployed in his country will provide protection from Western threats. He also expressed his belief that there are plans for an invasion of his country from neighboring Poland. He added, "Trust my words, I have never deceived you. They are preparing to invade Belarus... to destroy our state."
