Egyptian player Mohamed Salah is close to becoming the most expensive footballer in history if he decides to accept the new offer that the Saudi Union intends to present. Liverpool rejected the second offer from the union, which was valued at £150 million (about $188 million). The Saudi team had previously made an initial offer of £100 million (about $150 million), which was also rejected.
Sky Sports reported that a source close to the federation stated that "the club is willing to pay up to £200 million (about $250 million) to sign Mohamed Salah." The source added, "The officials of the federation are 'optimistic,' indicating that they will 'try again.'"
If Liverpool agrees, Salah would become the most expensive player in history, surpassing Brazilian Neymar da Silva, who transferred from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in a record deal worth £198 million.
