Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he would reinstate the ban on transgender individuals from serving in the military if elected for another term in 2024. During a campaign rally in Windham, New Hampshire, Trump told the crowd amid loud applause: "I will ban transgender individuals from joining the military, just as I did before. At that time, I talked to the generals and asked them: What do you think about transgender individuals? They said, 'Sir, is anyone listening to us? We don't like it, sir.' Everyone is afraid to talk about it, but you have to do what is right."
In his speech, Trump made various promises that he vowed to fulfill if re-elected, including forming a Veterans for Trump coalition composed of 120 veterans from all states, ending veteran suicides, banning transgender surgeries in the military, and holding generals accountable for the failed withdrawal from Afghanistan.
