Tsahi Hanegbi, the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's National Security Advisor, announced on Saturday that the military operations with "Hezbollah," occurring alongside the ongoing war in Gaza, appear limited in scope. He warned the group against taking any action that could lead to "the destruction of Lebanon." He stated, "We hope that Hezbollah does not actually cause the destruction of Lebanon because if a war breaks out, the outcome will be nothing less than that."
During a press conference, Hanegbi noted that Israel is focusing its fighting on the Gaza Strip, "from which Hamas militants launched an unprecedented attack on towns in southern Israel a week ago." He mentioned that Israel "is trying not to get dragged into a two-front war."
Hanegbi indicated that Israel "did not receive any concrete warning, even from Egypt, regarding the attack on October 7 that was carried out by Hamas from Gaza." He added in remarks to journalists that "the head of Israel's internal security agency Shin Bet was called for an extraordinary briefing at 4 a.m. that day, two and a half hours before the attack began, regarding new intelligence, but this did not necessitate mobilization."
