Russia and Ukraine announced today, Thursday, a prisoner exchange involving 90 soldiers from both sides, with 45 soldiers from each side.
The Russian news agency RIA reported that the Ministry of Defense stated that 45 Russian soldiers returned after being held in Ukraine.
Ukrainian Presidential Office head Andriy Yermak stated that 45 Ukrainian soldiers and two citizens have returned to the country.
Yermak mentioned in a Telegram post that some of those released fought in Mariupol, at the Azovstal steel plant in the south of the country, while others fought on the front lines in different areas. He stated, "They are all heroes."
Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets indicated that most of those released suffer from "severe injuries" and will all undergo rehabilitation.
In a separate post, Yermak mentioned that two children, aged six and ten, were allowed to return home after their mother, a military paramedic, was released last October.
