Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Finland today, Wednesday, for talks with leaders of Northern European countries regarding support for his country in the war waged by Russia and relations with Europe, according to regional governments. A spokesperson for Zelensky stated that the Ukrainian government expects a joint statement to be issued from the summit. He added, "The meeting of the leaders of Ukraine and the five Northern European countries aims to increase the coordination of military assistance to our state and European, as well as Euro-Atlantic integration for Ukraine."
Additionally, the office of Finnish President Sauli Niinistö reported that he will hold a bilateral meeting with Zelensky, followed by a press conference, before participating in a regional summit and a second press conference. Niinistö's office noted that "the summit will focus on Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine, the ongoing support of Northern European countries for Ukraine, Ukraine's relations with the European Union and NATO, and Ukraine's initiative for establishing a just peace."
