This morning, Monday, the official examinations for the secondary school diploma began in its four branches, as students headed to examination centers in various Lebanese regions, hoping to successfully complete their exams amidst concerning economic and living conditions and a turbulent academic year in the public sector. Students gathered in front of the Omar Farroukh Official Secondary School for Girls in Beirut before entering the examination center, while security measures were observed at the centers.
Minister of Education and Higher Education in the caretaker government, Abbas Halabi, toured several centers, starting his round at 9:30 AM at the Shakib Arslan Secondary School in Verdun, and then moving to the examination center at the Lour Maghizel Secondary School in Ashrafiyeh.
Media reports mentioned that a group of parents and students objected to Halabi's motorcade and attempted to smash the glass of his car. However, the media office of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education clarified in a statement that "about four young men shouted in front of the examination center at Shakib Arslan Secondary School that the exam is unfair and tried to draw attention, but they left the center with the minister."
